At The Steading Workshop, we have many years experience in woodturning. We are equipped with a precision computer-controlled woodturning lathe as well as traditional hand turning machines. We call this side of our business Caledonian Woodturners.

 

We can supply almost any item of turnery:

  • Standard or individual designs; yours or ours

  • Architectural components - finials, columns, staircase newels, balusters and curved mouldings.

  • Furniture components - knobs, bedposts and table legs etc.

  • Complex designs – twisted, fluted, facetted and engraved turnings.

  • Small items - hair pins, jewellery boxes and toy parts.

  • A precise replica service achieved by non-damaging laser scanning of original components.

 

 

 

This is just a small selection of items we are capable of producing.

Sizes can range from 2.7 metre long columns 300 mm or more in diameter, down to thumbnail size blocks for doll’s hats.

Our aim is to provide a high quality custom service rather than a mass production facility but we handle orders for 100’s or occasionally 1000’s of units when required.
